As we transition from lab-scale prototypes to full industrial deployment, we are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and align our teams toward this ambitious goal.
The opportunity - Shape your influential role
You will oversee the operational and strategic execution of our technology scale-up process. Working closely together with CEO and CTO, you will coordinate cross-functional teams, optimize workflows, and ensure resource allocation aligns with project milestones. This role requires a leader with strong operational expertise, a background in chemical, electrical, or industrial engineering, and significant experience in scaling hardware technologies from prototypes to industrial applications.
You will work closely with technical experts already embedded within the team, focusing on enabling them to succeed while maintaining oversight of operations, budget, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure a smooth transition from our lab-scale prototypes to industrial-scale solutions.
- Oversee day-to-day operational execution, aligning and controlling technical teams’ progress to achieve our strategic goals.
- Manage and report operational budgets, resource allocation, and key performance metrics.
- Align operational strategies with the company’s broader mission and business goals.
Project and Stakeholder Management:
- Drive key projects, such as pilot construction and industrial deployment, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Engage and negotiate with external development partners, suppliers, and contractors to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor progress against milestones, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Required Skills and Experience
Technical Competence:
- Strong foundation in industrial grade chemical and/or electrical engineering; advanced degree (MSc or PhD) is an advantage.
- Proven experience in successfully scaling hardware technologies from lab prototypes to industrial-grade solutions.
- Familiarity with pilot plant design, commissioning, and operation
- Previous experience in a dynamic startup environment is a strong plus.
Leadership and Management Expertise
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in operational leadership roles in technical industries such as climate tech, manufacturing, or industrial systems
- Proven ability to manage and drive cross-functional technical teams in dynamic environments.
- Experience building operational systems and processes to support scaling and commercialization
Project and Stakeholder Management:
- Track record of overseeing large, complex projects with significant technical and operational challenges.
- Strong risk assessment and mitigation skills at various stages of project development.
- Experience with developing and adapting efficient project controlling and reporting mechanisms.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Strong character that is unafraid to constructively question the strategic direction of the company
- Highly adaptable, resilient, and capable of thriving in fast-paced startup environments.
