Energie und Klima – Nachhaltige Gebäude: Politikexperte – Consultant/Senior Consultant/Managing Consultant
Guidehouse
Welcome to the Guidehouse team for the Public Sector (PS) in Europe and the Middle East (EME) within our global Energy, Sustainability and Infrastructure (ES&I) segment. With more than 700 consultants, ES&I is the largest energy and sustainability consulting team in the world. Our PS team is currently supporting the European Commission and the German Federal Government in several parallel projects with analyses and recommendations in the development of policy instruments in the field of regulation, promotion and information that aim to make our society climate-neutral as quickly as possible through the best possible energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies. In doing so, we cooperate with our ES&I colleagues from Germany and abroad, who pursue a similar objective with companies in the energy supply sector, large companies, product manufacturers, investors and financial institutions.
Our analyses and recommendations are based on scientifically sound analyses, strong technical, economic, social and political competence as well as a sense of practical and innovative approaches. In Guidehouse's ES&I segment, we work daily on tailored, actionable solutions that put us at the forefront of development in the climate and energy markets.

Your field of activity
You will become part of our outstanding EME PS team as a consultant and work on influential projects to transform the building sector towards climate neutrality and sustainability. Gradually, you will take on more responsibility, all the way to project management. The transformation of the building sector will only succeed in the long term if technology, society and the economy change in such a way that ecological limits are observed. To overcome this complex challenge, consultants from different backgrounds (engineering, natural sciences, political sciences, social sciences and economics) work together across disciplines. Only this combination of technical competence with political and economic as well as legal and planning aspects, which takes reality into account, enables the development of sustainable solutions.
You will love your new task if you
Enjoy interdisciplinary work on complex issues, in which you will get to know political contexts and feasibility at close quarters
Want to gain expert knowledge in data collection and analysis
love complex calculations and simulations
prepare the whole thing in easy-to-understand reports
in concise and meaningful technical and policy recommendations
to our customers.
You will have many opportunities to learn, you will always be challenged and you will develop your skills quickly. In addition to hands-on experience, you'll receive training on our proprietary Guidehouse learning platform that provides further knowledge and skills you need to succeed.
Your profile
You have a university or university of applied sciences (Master's degree) with a clear connection to natural sciences or engineering (e.g. industrial engineering, environmental technology, physics, renewable energies, technical building systems, economics with a focus on technology, etc.).
With your study results, you were among the best. Ideally, you have demonstrated cross-sectional interests in technology, economics, social sciences and political science with a connection to the transformation of the building sector - or at least two years of professional experience (including internships) in the field of energy and/or climate analysis related to the building sector.
In the process, you have at least gained initial knowledge on the topic of decarbonisation of heat supply and heating networks.
You combine this professional aptitude with a passion for climate protection and a special interest in the decarbonisation of the building sector in its complex social, political, technological and ecological context, including interaction with other sectors.
You have strong analytical and conceptual skills.
You can communicate very well and have networking skills.

Furthermore, we are happy about one or the other of the following experiences, which can also be acquired in the projects:
- Deeper insights into national and international policy cycles
- Insights into the policy context for the energy efficiency of buildings (GEG, EPBD ...)
