PROJECT MANAGER 80-100% (M/F/D)
IN THE FIELD OF LANDSCAPE PROTECTION/BIODIVERSITY

TASKS

  • Project management of CIPRA´s tasks (Work package 4 leader) in the three-year Interreg Alpine Space project AlpsLife (Protect Alpine Life by monitoring and managing Alpine biodiversity for the future. «Observing globally, acting locally»). Concrete tasks are:
  • Moderation/mediation during the establishment and operating of a new multistakeholder body - an interface between policy and practice
  • Liaison with the other three Work packages of the project and with Alpine Convention and EUSALP bodies;
  • Development and implementation of an outreach and capacity building strategy on the project topic for political administration at various levels;
  • Linking and processing the project results from the Alpine level to global and European biodiversity goals (e.g. Nature Restoration Law, Habitat and Birds Directives, Convention on Biological Diversity);
  • Project management tasks such as controlling, financial management and reporting to funding bodies with the support of the director;
  • Team leader tasks in the project such as task allocation and guidance of project staff
  • Contributing to the development of communication material related to the project
  • Supporting the general communication work and ongoing projects of the CIPRA network, such as exchanges with partners from all Alpine countries, research work, organization of events and meetings, preparation of documentation and reports, etc;
  • Development of new projects in the areas of biodiversity, landscape, regional development and spatial planning;
  • Supporting activities at the CIPRA Lab headquarters in the «Haus am Katzenturm » association, such as meetings, workshops, organizational matters;

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed Masters degree in biology, environmental sciences, environmental policy, spatial planning and regional management, or similar
  • Sound knowledge of the general policies and issues related to biodiversity and ecosystems in the Alps, Europe and globally
  • Several years of professional experience and expertise in international cooperation
  • Experience in the management of international and/or EU projects
  • Excellent English skills, knowledge of German not mandatory but helpful (language at the CIPRA Lab headquarters), skills in another Alpine language (Italian) are an advantage (language skills will be assessed at a possible interview and must be stated in the application in accordance with the European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Leadership skills for the guidance and supervision of interns and project staff
  • Use of MS Office programs, other software skills are an advantage
  • Experience in working with political bodies (e.g. Alpine Convention, EUSALP) is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel abroad to other Alpine countries
  • Experience in the NGO sector is an advantage
  • Creative ideas in the implementation of activities are more than welcome, as long as they are target-oriented and feasible

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duration: Fixed-term contract until August 2027 with the prospect of extension
Workload: 80-100% (100% corresponds to 40 hours per week)
Salary: at least € 4,544 gross per month
Start of work: as soon as possible (project start: 01.09.2024)
Place of work: Feldkirch, Austria with possibility of home office and remote work
