Job Overview

Global Standard gGmbH seeks a motivated specialist to support the improvement of GOTS environmental criteria (e.g. climate, wastewater). A background in environmental studies with professioal experience in the textile industry will be an asset.

Aufgaben

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Criteria

  • Collaborate on further developing the environmental criteria of the Standard, focusing particularly on climate-related issues, wastewater management etc.
  • Contribute to strategy development and implementation of environmental criteria
  • Develop and provide guideline with quantifying scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of textile entities
  • Contribute priority topics, including supply chain decarbonisation, product emission footprint analyses, biodiversity preservation, microplastic emission reduction etc.
  • Develop stakeholder training materials tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, guidelines, and communication resources

Standard Revision Activities

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in climate-related policies, environmental management regulations, industrial wastewater initiatives etc.
  • Collect and evaluate topics concerning environmental and certification matters for upcoming revisions of the Standard.
  • Contribute to facilitating the formal revision meetings of the Standard Revision Committee.

Monitoring and analyses

  • Assist in benchmarking analyses of wastewater and emission management criteria of the Standard against key international norms and sustainability standards.
  • Support in establishing a monitoring systems for the compliance of GOTS environmental criteria

Anforderungen

Candidate Profile

Educational background

  • A university degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainability Engineering, Climate Change, Environmental Policy, or related discipline.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience, demonstrating practical skills in climate action, ideally, related to the textile supply chain,
  • Good working knowledge of industrial wastewater management
  • Knowledge for decarbonisation activities for industrial settings

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong understanding of GHG emission assessment methodologies
  • Knowledge of climate standards, and initiatives (e.g. Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science Based Targets)
  • Knowledge of industrial wastewater management standards and initiatives
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate GHG emission analyses, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3
  • Experience with product carbon footprint analyses (LCA methodologies) ideally in connection with the textile products
  • Familiarity with LCA software tools, and standards ISO 14040; ISO 14044; ISO 14067; PEF, GHG protocol for products and also organisations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in connection with climate impact reporting (e.g. ESG / CSRD)
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex sustainability concepts clearly and effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to work with colleagues in a multicultural, multinational context collaboratively
